So what kind of food should one serve at a baby shower? Baby food, of course! It was the perfect choice for our Sunday brunch shower. Here’s our “baby food” menu:
French Vinaigrette and
Toasty Warm Goat Cheese
Roasted Baby Carrots
Oh, Baby! Broccoli Salad
Bun in the Oven Rolls with
Little Honey Butter
Petit Fours
(Pinot Noir or Pinot Grigio)
Baby Blue Punch
Sodas, Water, Coffee, Tea
Perhaps our most surprising “baby” food was ice cream and pickles for dessert. We served a scoop of French vanilla ice cream in martini glasses with a “pickle” garnish. The pickles were actually sugar cookies with key lime frosting made by the talented team that owns Flour & Flower. They used different shades of green icing and tiny dark green icing dots to make a very realistic looking dill pickle! They were a perfect accompaniment to our Baby Blue Punch. Here’s the recipe (it really is delicious!) which makes about 40-50 servings:
Ingredients:2 packages of blue Kool-Aid (we got the berry blue flavor), unsweetened
1 bottle of lemon-lime soda
2 bottles of white cranberry juice
¾ cup of white sugar
½ gallon of French Vanilla ice cream
Pour the Kool-Aid powder into a large punch bowl.
Add the lemon lime soda and cranberry juice.
Stir in the sugar.
Scoop the ice cream on top and serve.
